The slacker-stoner schtick is going to need a tuxedo. Seth Rogen has just been announced as the host for the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards. The annual event recognizes the best in "artist-driven" movies (no, not necessarily "independent" ones -- last year's Best Picture winner was 'Black Swan'). The Best Picture nominees for this year include 'The Descendants,' 'Take Shelter,' 'The Artist,' 'Drive,' 'Beginners,' and, coincidentally (or, maybe not), Seth Rogen's '50/50.'

The ceremony takes place during the day on Feb. 25 in Santa Monica, and will be televised later that evening on IFC. The Academy Awards are held one day later.

As for Rogen, he will be following 'Community' star Joel McHale, who hosted the event last year. So what can we expect from Seth? Hopefully nothing like the performance his 'Pineapple Express' co-star James Franco gave during last year's Oscars.
