Insert your favorite hack 'Austin Powers' reference here. According to Page Six, 'Austin Powers' could be coming to the Broadway stage in the near future. Sources tell the gossip rag that star Mike Myers has been 'in talks' with producers about turning the spy spoof into a musical. "Mike would be heavily involved in writing the show," a source told Page Six, "but he will not star in it, even though he has quite a good singing voice."
This is the second time in 2011 that Myers has been tied to an 'Austin Powers' revival. Back it August, it was reported that he was working on 'Austin Powers 4' and that filming would commence in the near future. Whether or not that happens -- and whether or not this Broadway version happens -- remains to be seen.
The three 'Austin Powers' fllms have grossed over $650 million worldwide. Myers hasn't been seen on screen as himself since a cameo in 'Inglourious Basterds' in 2009. Before that he starred in the notorious 2008 bomb, 'The Love Guru.'
