On Nov. 27, 1984, Scarlett Johansson was born in New York City. Twenty-seven years later, she's one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, known for her work in well-received indies ('Ghost World,' 'Lost in Translation') as well as major blockbusters ('Iron Man 2'). She's been Woody Allen's muse three times, worked with Christopher Nolan and Michael Bay, and even won a Tony Award. Johansson also saw her marriage to Ryan Reynolds fizzle out -- though not before some unfortunate photo leaks. In short, she's had the Hollywood career of an actress twice her age, all before today. What's her finest onscreen moment?
Could it be anything other than 'Lost in Translation'? Johansson's work with Woody Allen is wonderful (specifically in 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona) and 'Ghost World' is a caustic treat, but Johansson was never better than in her breakout performance in Sofia Coppola's lyrical indie. Despite a Golden Globe nomination and BAFTA award win, Johansson wasn't nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards for 'Lost in Translation.' That's not quite at the level of Bill Murray losing Best Actor that year to Sean "I AM OVERACTING NOW" Penn in 'Mystic River,' but it's close.
What's your favorite ScarJo role? Contemplate that while looking at her awesomely awesome red carpet photos.
