If David Fincher was trying to secure an Academy Award nomination for his upcoming film, 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,' this may not be the best way to go about it. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director "half-jokingly" spoke about the movie's Oscar chances. "There's too much anal rape in this movie ... I think we're very safe." Hm, perhaps he should take a page from Brett Ratner's playbook and quit while he's ahead?

On a more serious note, it sounds like Fincher will campaign for a 'Tattoo' Oscar, if not for him, at least for his actors -- something he's done on his last two projects. "When it came to '[The Curious Case of] Benjamin Button,' I wanted it for Brad [Pitt] more than Brad wanted it for himself," admits Fincher. As for Jessie Eisenberg in 'The Social Network,' the director "thought that kid f-cking brought it, and I was incredibly thankful to be able to be there and record that performance." 'Dragon Tattoo' has already generated early Oscar buzz, particularly for Rooney Mara in the Best Actress category.
