It's the day that literally goes to 11, so who better to recognize on 11-11-11 than Nigel Tufnel? Who's he, you ask? The (fake) guitarist for the (fake) band Spinal Tap, of course! On Nov. 11, Tufnel is being recognized by the film's fans around the world for his unique amplifier in the mockumentary 'This is Spinal Tap.' The 1984 movie, which spoofs the life of a fake rock band, has a scene where Nigel (played by Christopher Guest) shows off an amp with volume knobs that go to 11, instead of the standard 10. ("It's one louder, isn't it?") Out of that all-time scene, that Nigel Tufnel Day was born.

The man behind the celebration is 'Spinal Tap' fan and musician Michael Fennelley, who created the Facebook post for this day one year ago. "It tapered off for a while, but we've been getting more attention since mid-October. I told people we can't wait for the eleventh hour, but that's exactly what happened," Fennelley told HuffPost Weird News. So, how will he be celebrating 11-11-11? By performing with his Spinal Tap cover band at a San Diego bar called Bar Eleven, of course.

Head on over to HuffPost to read the entire interview with Fennelley as well as the continued cult status of 'This is Spinal Tap.'
