UPDATE: Grazer has apparently accepted the position and wants to get Murphy back.

Bet you never thought who produced the Academy Awards would be such major news! Both The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline are reporting that Brian Grazer is in unconfirmed discussions with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences about replacing Brett Ratner as Oscars producer. Grazer -- the uber-producer most recently responsible for 'Tower Heist' and 'J. Edgar' -- was mentioned as a replacement for Ratner before Eddie Murphy quit as host, because of his apparent relationship with the star; whether his involvement has changed with Murphy's departure remains to be seen. Meanwhile, here's guessing there are a lot of ALL CAPS emails being sent around by AMPAS Board of Governors members at the moment.
