Last week, Nike made geek waves by auctioning off pairs of Marty McFly's famed kicks from 'Back to the Future Part II.' Not only were fans of the film afforded the chance to get their hands on the cult items, but all the proceeds would be going to Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's foundation. Now, thanks to a video posted Thursday, the story behind how the Nikes came to fruition is revealed.

Filmmakers approached Nike about the idea of making a shoe from 30 years in the future before 'Part II' was shot. Of course, the athletic giant was more than happy to oblige.

The entire video is pretty interesting, but the best piece of info comes at the 1:50 mark, where the secret behind McFly's self-tying laces is revealed.
