"Something big is coming soon," 'Back to the Future' producer Frank Marshall tweeted on Wednesday night to the consternation of film fans everywhere. "Can't say anything yet. No one should know too much about their own destiny." Was Marshall teasing an obviously ill-advised reboot to the beloved 'BTTF' film series starring Shia LaBeouf? Perhaps a fourth film, one that featured Marty McFly's time-traveling offspring (also played by Shia LaBeouf)? Probably not! (Not yet at least.) It turns out, he was just plugging a sneaker.
According to the site Nice Kicks, it seems that Nike officials will announce on Thursday the release Marty McFly's Air Mag sneakers from 'Back to the Future Part II.' If you believe Internet rumors, the self-lacing kicks will cost upward of $1000, meaning perhaps only 'BTTF' superfans will want to participate in this bit of 22-year-old movie marketing madness. Either them, or anyone tired of tying their own shoelaces.
Marshall tweeted what looks like a teaser spot for the sneakers which you can watch below. Sadly, there is no word yet about a corresponding hoverboard announcement.
