Between his permanent ban from the Cannes Film Festival to his being an unintentional inspiration for the Norway Killer, it's been a rough few months for writer/director Lars von Trier. Granted, he brought the ban upon himself, but at least he's got the release of his award-winning 'Melancholia' to brighten things up. And thanks to the crew at Vulture, we now have our first look at the official poster and three new stills to make the wait that much easier.

'Melancholia' is about a bride (Kirsten Dunst) whose wedding day turns into a fiasco when her strained relationship with her sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) comes to a head. All the while, the bride discovers a small planet that's on a collision course with Earth to end life as we know it. Co-starring Kiefer Sutherland, Alexander Skarsgard, and John Hurt, among others; written and directed by Lars von Trier.

As much as we're looking forward to its theatrical release on November 11 (premiering On Demand on October 7), it sure has been hard getting behing Lars von Trier these days.

So do you think 'Melancholia' is going to repair von Trier's tarnished image?
