Have you been wondering about the plot for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, 'Man of Steel'? An early summary went something like this: "A young reporter named Clark Kent roams the world covering various news stories. When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, he returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be."

Now, a more official plot line has been released, which indeed indicates that this Superman film will be a journey of identity that will most likely roll together a variety of Superman motifs into one, nice, special effects-laden bundle. According to ComicBookMovie.com, Warner Bros. is holding open casting calls in Nanaimo and Ucluelet on Vancouver Island, Canada ('Man of Steel' is currently filming in the Chicago area) for extras, and as part of the studio's advertisement, a synopsis was revealed.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question -- Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
Filming will continue in Vancouver and surrounding areas through January 20, 2012.

Also starring in the film -- which will be released June 14, 2013 -- are Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Julia Ormand, Harry Lennix, Christopher Meloni and Russell Crowe.
