Smashing, baby! That's something that Austin Powers used to say, right? Who can remember - it's been so long! Austin Powers, who hasn't been seen on the big screen since 2002's 'Austin Powers in Goldmember,' and its star, Mike Myers, will return for a fourth film – at some point. Hitfix is reporting that star Mike Myers has signed on to star in a fourth film. 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery' became a cult favorite on DVD after a less-than-glorious run at the box-office in 1997, grossing only $67 million worldwide. The two sequels, 'The Spy who Shagged Me' and 'Goldmember,' however, were massive hits: grossing $312 million and $296 million worldwide, respectively.
This announcement isn't too shocking, considering Myers' recent history at the box-office. Of course, his voice work in the Shrek films has produced massive success, but his last live-action starring vehicle, 'The Love Guru,' was a critical and financial failure. Even nine years later, the Austin Powers series is as close to a sure thing that Myers has in his repertoire.
No date has been set yet for the still-unnamed fourth Austin Powers film.
