A movie trailer featuring ghosts, witches, murder, Val Kilmer and a Tom Waits voiceover sounds either awesome or a recipe for disaster. After watching the first footage from Francis Ford Coppola's 'Twixt,' we aren't really sure which way to go.

'Twixt' stars Kilmer as Hal Baltimore, a washed-up writer who travels to a small town, where he soon stumbles upon a decades-old mass murder mystery along with a wave of wooden-stake murders. Somehow, Edgar Allen Poe, dreams and ghosts work their way into the plot as well.

It looks interesting (to say the least). Of course, Coppola has a habit of changing things up. He's directed comedies ('Jack'), war films ('Apocalypse Now') and mob flicks (something called 'The Godfather'), so 'Twixt' doesn't seem like that big of a surprise.
