Jeff Bridges co-stars as a gunslinger from the Old West who's been hunting spirits since the 1800s. The Robert Schwentke-directed film is based on the Dark Horse comic written by Peter M. Lenkov. Kathryn Bigelow's high-profile Navy Seal Team 6 project -- about the hunt for Osama bin Laden -- has been given a release date: Oct. 12, 2012, just in time for a big year-end Oscar run. Bigelow and 'The Hurt Locker' writer Mark Boal had been working on the Team 6's mission to get bin Laden when the Al-Qaeda leader was killed, necessitating a change in story direction (the film was to focus on the unsuccessful assassination attempts). During this year's Cannes Film Festival, buyers began to line up for the untitled project; it eventually landed at Sony. [The Hollywood Reporter]
