Here's an interesting pairing: Nicolas Cage and John Cusack are in talks to star in 'The Frozen Ground,' a thriller based on Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen who, from 1980 to 1983, murdered between 17 and 21 women near Anchorage. Respected family man Hansen would abduct prostitutes, rape and torture them, then fly them into the wilderness in his private Piper Cub, where he would hunt them down. Cusack would play Hansen while Cage would play Alaskan State Trooper Glenn Flothe who brought the killer to justice. [Deadline]

Emma Stone is in negotiations to take a starring role in 'The Gangster Squad,' Warner Bros.' adaptation of the Los Angeles Times' seven-part series 'Tales From the Gangster Squad' about the LAPD's rough and tumble efforts to keep East Coast mobsters out of Los Angeles in the 1940s. Stone would play a sharp-tongued siren caught in a love triangle between an LAPD sergeant (Ryan Gosling) and famed gangster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn). Ruben Fleischer ('Zombieland') is directing an ensemble cast that includes Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Giovanni Ribisi and Michael Pena. [Variety]

Joan Allen and Albert Finney are in negotiations to reprise their previous Bourne roles for 'The Bourne Legacy,' the fourth installment in the franchise: Allen will play CIA agent Pam Landy and Finney will play the head of the agency's behavior modification program. 'Legacy' stars Jeremy Renner as a new operative (Matt Damon and his Bourne character will not return). Tony Gilroy, who was a writer on the first three Bourne movies, now takes over directing duties as well. The film also stars Rachel Weisz, Oscar Isaac and Edward Norton. [The Hollywood Reporter]
