Looks like Rhys Ifans is taking this villain thing a little too seriously. The actor, who will play Peter Parker's nemesis, the Lizard, in the upcoming 'The Amazing Spider-Man' was detained last night at Comic-Con on battery charges.

Earlier reports say that Ifans, who allegedly smelled of alcohol, was arrested, however Sony issued a statement that said he was only detained. "Rhys Ifans was detained by Comic-Con security after a brief incident backstage prior to and immediately following 'The Amazing Spider-Man' panel. Police were notified and a citation was issued to Mr. Ifans who deeply regrets this incident."

TheWrap
originally stated that Ifans got angry and shoved a guard when a member of his entourage was unable to enter the hall with no credentials. "He was aggressive and belligerent," Lt. Andra Brown said of the Welsh actor. "He was ... berating everyone from the security staff to the United States of America."
