"Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot ..." So sayeth Johnny Depp, wethinks, as, according to TheWrap, the actor is seriously considering signing up for a fifth edition of 'Pirates of the Caribbean.'

When asked last May about rumors of a fifth 'Pirates' film, Depp said, "It boils down to story, script and filmmaker. It's not something where I would say, 'Let's shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012.' We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me."

How special? Well, now that 'On Stranger Tides' has passed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, Depp, sources say, is close to signing a deal for the next installment. And, according to TheWrap, the studio has a rough draft for the script, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer and others have been meeting to work on it and improve it. A deal will reportedly depend on whether Depp likes the screenplay, but the broad strokes are in place for a deal with the lead actor. (It doesn't hurt that Depp has earned close to $350 million from the franchise. Um, wow.)

Depp's next project: 'The Lone Ranger,' in which he plays Tonto.
