FilmDistrict, the upstart distribution company that is handling 'Drive,' the buzzed-about thriller that centers on a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman, has acquired U.S. rights to 'Only God Forgives,' a drama that, coincidentally, reteams 'Drive' director Nicolas Winding Refn with 'Drive' star Ryan Gosling.

According to Deadline, Gosling plays a fugitive on the run from the British police who hides out in Bangkok, where he runs a Thai boxing club that is a front for a drug smuggling operation. Circumstances force him to get into the ring for a shot at redemption.

Gosling has been a busy boy lately. He's starring in director Derek Cianfrance's 'A Place Beyond the Pines' (Cianfrance directed him in 'Blue Valentine') and he's also starring with Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Anthony Mackie in the Ruben Fleischer-directed 'Gangster Squad.' He's also set to star for Refn in a remake of 'Logan's Run.' His most current film, 'Stupid, Crazy, Love,' opens July 29, followed by 'Drive,' which debuts Sept. 16.

'Only God Forgives' will begin shooting in late summer in Thailand.
