Last night at CineEurope, James Cameron screened 15 minutes of footage from the upcoming 'Titanic 3D', and the audience greeted it with whoops and cheers.

No matter what your opinion is of the 1997 blockbuster, you can't deny the cultural impact the original film had when it premiered.

Hit the jump to see why the director wanted to do 'Titanic 3D.'
There is a huge audience that has never seen 'Titanic' on the big screen ... There's a huge number who weren't born when it first came out. I actually think there is a huge number of people who were born because of 'Titanic' because it is such a great date movie ... 'Titanic' was a big-screen experience. 'Titanic' didn't set records in home video, it set records in the theaters. Especially international, where it made double the national box office."
Are you guys going to check out 'Titanic 3D' when it comes out next year?
