Best known for his work on Fox's 'The Chicago Code,' Jason Clarke will be playing the role of George Wilson, the husband of the woman who's having an affair with the guy who's married to the woman that Gatsby's in love with. (Which makes more sense in the book.) Clarke will be joining the ranks of Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Toby Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, and Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson.
As far as the cast is concerned, everything seems gravy, but the thing that has us skeptical as sin about this whole production is Luhrmann as the director and his decision to film it in 3D. For those of us who love the book, it's increasingly hard to imagine the guy behind 'Moulin Rouge' capturing all of this story's subtle strengths, especially in the third dimension. Right now, all we can do is hope and pray that this doesn't turn into a musical and that the cast absolutely kills it, because as much as we're shaking our heads, this is happening and it's happening next year.
What do you think: A recipe for disaster, or have faith in the cast?
