After making a career out of disturbing us silly with math, drugs and ballet, and making it look too damn good for us to turn away, it looks like Darren Aronofsky is finally gonna get Biblical -- just after we finally sort of figured out what the heck happened at the end of 'The Fountain'.

In the wake of his most recent effort, 'Black Swan,' which not only won a slew of awards but blew away its $12 million budget by raking in upwards of $315 million, rumor has it that Aronofsky is looking to direct his script for 'Noah,' a fantasy epic of sorts that revolves around the story of Noah's Ark and the Great Flood as told in the book of Genesis.

A somewhat surprising development since Aronofsky recently dropped out of filming 'The Wolverine' due to its lengthy time commitment, not to mention that this sounds like a much larger-scale production than he's used to. Then again, he is one of the hottest directors out there right now, and we don't think he'll have any trouble rising to the challenge.

As for Noah's Ark, at least it can't be worse than 'Evan Almighty.' No word yet on any release date or casting details, but if Aronofsky is involved, it's probably OK to get excited.

What do you think: Aronofsky can do no wrong, or is he biting off more than he can chew with this one?
