Two great books, two long-awaited adaptations, one inconvenient weekend. Now that just won't do.
After it was announced this week that Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' will be released on Dec. 14, 2012, the powers that be at 20th Century Fox have come to the conclusion that releasing a movie on the same weekend that isn't a 'Twilight' sequel is a losing battle if there ever was one. So, as of now, the Ang Lee–directed 'Life of Pi' adaptation is currently set for a Dec. 21, 2012, release date, where it will be going up against a political action-thriller called 'Hunter Killer' and an untitled Judd Apatow comedy.
Not that we have any problem with attending back-to-back screenings of 'Life of Pi' and the first 'Hobbit' movie on the same day, but being big fans of both these amazing novels, we're glad to see that author Yann Martel's minor masterpiece will have it's moment in the sun.
Which are you more excited for -- 'Life of Pi' or 'The Hobbit'?
