The first reviews of 'X-Men: First Class' are popping up and they're all raves, with director Matthew Vaughn and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence all being singled out for praise.
After the disappointments of 'X-Men: The Last Stand' and 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine,' fan sites are ecstatic to see the series return to form. "It's a huge home run," says Collider, while others rave about its exceeding the usual comic-book movie expectations.
"'X-Men: First Class' is a genuinely good movie, not just a good superhero movie,'" writes the Hitfix reviewer, who says it's his favorite film in the entire series.
HeyUGuys writes, "The talented screenwriting duo of Jane Goldman and director Matthew Vaughn have made a fantastic effort here to bring the '60s age of civil unrest and cold world paranoia successfully into a comic book milieu, and weave what is essentially a period, character-based (a term which don't normally spring to mind in such a genre) espionage thriller with big action spectacle thrills."
The movie opens June 3.
Do you think the film can live up to this kind of hype?
