'Blue Valentine' star Ryan Gosling will star in and direct 'The Idolmaker,' about rock promoter and producer Bob Marcucci, who discovered teen idols Frankie Avalon and Fabian.

The actor's directorial debut will be a remake of the 1980 film of the same name, which was directed by Taylor Hackford and starred Ray Sharkey ('Wiseguy') as Marcucci.

Gosling is in Cannes this week to promote his film 'Drive,' with Carey Mulligan. He also has the remake of 'Logan's Run' lined up, and the crime drama 'Gangster Squad.'

Emily Browning ('Sucker Punch'), Juno Temple ('The Three Musketeers') and Catalina Sandino Moreno ('Maria Full of Grace'), are joining Michael Cera in 'Magic, Magic.' The indie thriller is about a girl who slowly starts to lose her mind while vacationing with friends in a remote area of Chile. Sebastian Silva ('The Maid') will write and direct.

Browning is currently in Cannes with 'Sleeping Beauty.'

'Twilight' hunk Kellan Lutz and Camila Belle, whose films include 'Push' and 'When a Stranger Calls,' are in negotiations to star in 'Bumped,' for 'The Mighty Ducks' director Stephen Herek. The indie drama will follow five strangers whose paths cross during a long layover at Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

Production is expected to start next month.

Lutz has two films coming out this year, 'Breaking Dawn,' and 'Immortals,' in which he plays Poseidon. After that, he'll star with opposite Mandy Moore in Dermont Mulroney's directorial debut 'Love, Wedding, Marriage.'

Belle is attached to star in the South African soccer drama 'Zebras' for director Bruce Beresford.
