It looks like the reunion is finally on.
Actor Thomas Ian Nicholas has finally come aboard Universal's 'American Reunion,' the fourth theatrical installment in the 'American Pie' franchise. He is the last of the original film's main cast to sign on to the film, following Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Jason Biggs, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Chris Klein, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Eugene Levy, who are all set to reprise their respective roles.
'Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle' creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg wrote the script and will direct the fourth film (not counting the direct-to-DVD entries), according to the Hollywood Reporter.
'American Reunion' begins filming later this month, and will be released April 6, 2012.
Each of the three 'American Pie' theatrical releases topped $100 million at the domestic box office, with the series' second installment, 'American Pie 2,' its biggest hit with a $145 million gross in the U.S. The films have made over $350 million domestically for a worldwide total of over $750 million.
The franchise has also spawned a very lucrative straight-to-DVD business in the vein of 'National Lampoon,' with titles like 'American Pie Presents Band Camp' and 'American Pie Presents the Naked Mile.' Many of these films have focused on the younger siblings of Scott's character Steve Stifler.
