Ever wonder what happened to that guy or girl you sparked with that one time? You know the one.

Well, that's the premise (kind of) for 'One Day,' the new romantic comedy-drama from 'An Education' director Lone Scherfig. The film stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess ('Across the Universe') as Dexter and Emma, who meet the night they graduate from the University of Edinburgh in 1988 and agree to remain friends and visit each other on the same date every year to see where they are in their lives. Though both go on to find themselves in and out of romantic entanglements, they have a special connection neither can explain.

Based on the bestselling novel by David Nicholls, who also wrote the screenplay, 'One Day' will provide a welcome respite from the special-effects-heavy summer movie season when it lands in theaters August 19.
