The actor was out promoting his new film 'The Bang Bang Club,' in which he plays a photographer, when he told the New York Post he's tired of the paparazzi culture of L.A. and constantly being in the tabloid spotlight.
"It's so hard to go out in L.A. I'm going to move," he said, adding he wants to spend a third of his year in New York and has been looking at places in SoHo.
That's not the only big move he wants to make: "I think I'm going to end my acting career." he said. "I'm so introverted. I'm ready to be behind the scenes. I'm 36, but I've been doing this for 20 years." Hard to believe, since he still looks like that fresh-faced kid in 'Cruel Intentions.'
He also complained about being the focus of less-than-positive stories about his personal life: "I'm a good guy. I'm not that guy you read about."
But don't count the actor out just yet. While Phillipe does hope to expand his producing and directing work, a source close to the star tells 'Access Hollywood' that he has no intention of quitting acting in the near future and that his comments were taken out of context.
Would you be sad if Phillippe quit acting?

UPDATE: According to Access Hollywood, Phillipe's comments were taken out of context. According to a source, "the 36-year-old is looking to expand his producing and directing endeavors, while also continuing to be seen on the big screen."
It's easy to see how wildly out-of-context his comments were taken. Saying "I think I'm going to end my acting career" does not mean he was thinking of ending his acting career. Why, next you'll tell me that he's also thinking of ending his acting career! Complete rubbish!
