As the summer blockbuster season inches ever closer (we're just over a month away), we can all count on one thing: a barrage of new teasers, trailers and advertisements for some of the season's biggest titles. In this summer's jam-packed schedule, a good trailer can make or break a film. Luckily, Disney seems to understand this and has unveiled a brand-new theatrical trailer for their upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.' Fans will definitely want to see what Johnny Depp and company are up to in the new clip.
This marks the second major bit of advertising for the film, which finds Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbarossa in search of the Fountain of Youth. Along the way, they have run-ins with Blackbeard (Ian McShane) and his daughter Angelica (Penelope Cruz). The first trailer, which aired during the Super Bowl, played up the film's comedic elements. The new clip, which debuted on Yahoo! Movies early this morning, is all about the action.
Running just over two minutes, the new trailer gives everyone an idea of what to expect in the film. Fans worried about the directorial switch from Gore Verbinski to Rob Marshall can breathe a little easier. We can't judge a film from its trailer alone, but it does seem like Marshall has managed to recreate the franchise's visual style and signature mix of comedy and action. The film is set to sail into theaters on May 20.
Have a peek at the trailer below and let us know what you think. Will you be booking another voyage on Captain Jack's ship or will you be spending your summer vacation with a different movie entirely?
