The supermoon must have worked its evil mind-control magic over Tommy Wirkola regarding the latest bit of casting for 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.' Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton have already been locked down for the title roles, with Famke Janssen and Norwegian actress Ingrid Bolsø Berdal as two of the witchy women who plot against them. The always-fun Peter Stormare plays the "villainous town sheriff," and now we can add bad guy Derek Mears to the cast.

Mears, who is best known for playing slasher icon Jason Voorhees, certainly adds a bit of muscle to the movie. He's joined by young actor Thomas Mann ('It's Kind of a Funny Story'). 'Hansel and Gretel' joins a growing list of dark reimaginings of fairy-tale classics. The film is being billed as a horror-action-comedy and was written by Wirkola, who brought us the Nazi zombie horror-comedy, 'Dead Snow.' Don't let the word "comedy" fool you, though -- Wirkola has proved he can dish up the gore as well as the laughs.

'Hansel and Gretel' finds the eponymous twosome 15 years after they survived their traumatic encounter with the witch at the notorious gingerbread house. Brother and sister have grown up and regrouped as bounty hunters out for blood. The Brothers Grimm tale is set in a three-dimensional universe and heading our way March 2, 2012. Are you excited about this latest horror-fan-friendly casting update?
