We've been reporting regularly on Lionsgate's feature adaptation of Suzanne Collins' young adult bestseller 'The Hunger Games,' the first book in a trilogy about youngsters in a post-Apocalyptic America. Director Gary Ross is now casting his eyes on the female lead ... and his eyes have fallen upon Jennifer Lawrence, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin. According to Variety, while no offer has been made, insiders say that Lawrence has generated the most interest. That may be because of her age: In the books, the character is described as a woman between 15 and 20, and that's key, because the age of the lead will, in Variety's words, "impact the audience demographic and other casting." Lawrence is 20, which could attract young adults, while Steinfeld and Breslin are both 14. The film is due to hit theaters March 23, 2012.

Looks like Barry Levinson has chosen his next project and, like many of his previous outings ('Good Morning, Vietnam,' 'Bugsy,' 'Sleepers,' 'What Just Happened' and the recent HBO feature 'You Don't Know Jack') it's based on a true-life tale. Deadline reports that Levinson will direct 'O.K.C.,' a political thriller about the Oklahoma City bombing. The story, by first-time screenwriter Clay Wold, follows a young legal clerk on the Timothy McVeigh defense team who risks everything to expose a larger conspiracy in pursuit of the truth. The legal clerk is Wold's brother.
