The first couple of images from the upcoming 'Toy Story' short that will screen in front of 'Cars 2' have arrived online, and they show us exactly what we were expecting. We had heard previously that the short -- one of at least two that will be arriving this year before Disney and Pixar-branded films (the other will reportedly appear before the upcoming Muppets movie) -- will follow Ken and Barbie in their attempt to go on a real Hawaiian vacation. However, when they fail to properly stow away, it's up to the rest of the toys to give them the "pretend" Hawaiian vacation they've always dreamed of.
Entertainment Weekly premiered the first two images (see one above and the other one over at EW). Director Gary Rydstrom (who also directed the 2006 Pixar short 'Lifted') notes, ''Woody becomes kind of like what's-his-name on Love Boat ... Captain Stubing! As toys who get played with all the time, they have a pretty good imagination. When it's time for a little play-acting, they're good at it."
'Cars 2' hits theaters on June 24. Check out Rydstrom's 'Lifted' short after the jump.
