'Hall Pass' is about two men (played by Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis) who, after years of only being with their wives, are granted a one-week reprieve from their marriage vows. The guys immediately embark on a mission to score as many women as they can bed.
If you're able, set aside the movie's most controversial plot point, the comparatively novel one about getting a free pass from matrimony. Instead, let's focus on the second-most controversial part of the film's equation -- namely, that it involves characters on a sexual quest. Blame Hollywood if you must, but horndogs with one-track minds are not as rare in filmdom as you might expect.
In an effort to prepare viewers for the bawdiness of 'Hall Pass' (it's a Farrelly Brothers film, after all), Moviefone looks at five of our favorite movie characters who are desperate for sex.
5. Michelle Flaherty in 'American Pie' (1999)
For much of this sophomoric comedy, it appears as if only the teenage male leads are in search of some action. Then in a comedic twist that even M. Night Shyamalan could appreciate, the annoying flute girl (Alyson Hannigan) drops the bomb that she's just as ready to go as Jim (Jason Biggs). Hannigan is so skilled at playing an innocent-looking yet sex-crazed girl that the producers of 'How I Met Your Mother' gave her character a similarly high libido.
4. Scotty J. in 'Boogie Nights' (1997)
Sex, sex all around, but not a drop for Scotty (Philip Seymour Hoffman). This poor boom-mic operator works on pornographic movie shoots all day long. While this would be a dream for most horny men, Scotty only has eyes for Dirk Diggler (Mark Wahlberg). He pines over the porn star throughout the film and does his best to woo him by wearing similar clothes and buying a new red car. However, unless Diggler is desperate for cash, he only likes the ladies, so Scotty only grows more and more frustrated.
3. Seth in 'Superbad' (2007)
This movie turned Jonah Hill into a favorite of teenagers everywhere, mostly because his hoarse voice is the personification of their own internal monologue demanding they quest for other drunk and horny teens. Everyone also knows the humiliation of going in for the kiss and being rejected, although accidently head-butting the other person in the eye isn't as common. Unfortunately, the only person Seth ends up cuddling with is Evan (Michael Cera), but you get the feeling the girl with the black eye will give him another shot.
2. Andy Stitzer in 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' (2005)
Just when Stitzer (Steve Carell) thought he was over sex, he's hurled back into as furious a sex mission as the 'American Pie' guys. Unfortunately, he has the additional handicaps of being 40 years old, having standards and possessing male friends who think that his sex mission is also their quest. While this is a popular guy comedy, the message at the end is that good things come to those who wait.
1. Bella Swan in 'The Twilight Saga'
This morose teen (Kristen Stewart) makes the top of our list because she has to wait through three long movies before she's finally able to get it on with Edward. Even when she falls in love, he refuses to sleep with her out of fear he'll kill her. That must have been brutal. Plus, she has to constantly fight the temptation of that wolf boy constantly humping her leg. No wonder she's so tragic.
