Pathé U.K. has released the first official still from 'The Iron Lady,' in which two-time Oscar-winner Meryl Streep will tackle the role of Margaret Thatcher, Britain's first female prime minister.
According to the press release, via Coming Soon, the movie began filming on Jan. 31, and co-stars Jim Broadbent ('Iris') as Thatcher's husband, Denis.
The film will also re-team Streep with her 'Mamma Mia!' director, Phyllida Lloyd, though as far as we can tell, 'The Iron Lady' will not include any songs by ABBA.
In the press release today, Streep had this to say about the role: "The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge. I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses –- I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!"
