Michael Fassbender (of 'Inglourious Basterds' fame) is in talks to star in Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' opposite Noomi Rapace (of 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' fame).

According to a report at Variety, Fassbender was considering several roles, including Universal's 'Snow White and the Huntsman.'

'Prometheus,' which began as a prequel to 'Alien' and is now a stand-alone sci-fi project, also was moved by Fox from a March 9, 2012 release date to June 8, ostensibly to avoid conflicts with Disney's sci-fi opus 'John Carter of Mars.'

'Lost' series writer Damon Lindelof is rewriting Jon Spaihts' original script along with Scott.

Fassbender has been keeping busy lately; the co-star of numerous TV series (including 'Band of Brothers,' 'Murphy's Law' and 'Hex') is starring in 'X-Men: First Class,' 'A Dangerous Method,' 'Haywire' and 'Jane Eyre,' and has his name attached to 'At Swim-Two-Birds' and 'Shame.'
