Well here's some rather great news from E! Online: The prolific, highly-regarded, and effortlessly cool Michael Douglas believes he has won his battle with throat cancer -- and he's looking to get back to work as soon as possible. (He's about to get underway on Steven Soderbergh's 'Liberace' movie!)
Here's an excerpt from an interview between Michael Douglas and 'The Today Show's' Matt Lauer: "I feel good, relieved. The tumor is gone ... I have to check out on a monthly basis now to maintain. I guess there's not a total euphoria. I'll probably take a couple of months of getting checked out. But it's been a wild six-month ride ... I think the odds are with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer that I've got it beat."
The veteran actor is refreshingly candid and matter-of-fact about his brush with cancer, but he's also very hopeful about his future. This is the sort of story we love to share, partially because it's very good news, but also because it could do wonders for other people out there who are struggling with similar health issues. On behalf of all his fans here at Cinematical/Moviefone, we offer a big virtual hug to Mr. Douglas. We're thrilled to hear of his progress.
