First, Sam Worthington took a rare stand in Hollywood, not only agreeing that the first one was a let-down, but that he was going to "take all the notes from people that I have been reading about on the 'net and give them a movie they f**king want." He asserted that movies are for the audience, and everyone -- including the actor often criticized for his acting -- are setting out to improve.
But just in case you want more of a reason to follow the developing sequel, the new supporting cast is being assembled, and the roster is led by Edgar Ramirez, the Venezuelan actor from films such as 'The Bourne Ultimatum' and the recently Golden Globes-nominated mini-series, 'Carlos.'
Deadline reports that Ramirez has been offered the role of Ares, the God of War (over the previously rumored Javier Bardem), and their sources say he's "on the verge of making a deal." On top of his involvement, The Wrap reports that 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' villain Toby Kebbell is about to sign on to play Agenor (James Franco's name was once circling the role) and Bill Nighy is being courted for Hephaestus.
But there's also a little recasting of Andromeda to contend with, and Hayley Atwell (Captain America) is currently leading a shortlist that includes Clemence Poesy (Fleur Delacour in the Harry Potter series), Janet Montgomery ('Black Swan'), Georgina Haig ('Wasted on the Young') and Dominique McElligott ('Moon'). Unfortunately, there's no word on why Alexa Davalos isn't returning for the sequel.
As 'Wrath of the Titans' gears up for a March 30, 2012, filmed-in-3-D release, how are you feeling about the sequel?
