CATEGORIES CinematicalFans of the new hit TV series 'The Walking Dead' were saddened to see season one come to a close on Sunday night, but here's some news that should get you a bit excited about season 2, due out at some point (hopefully) in the next year or so (man, cable shows and their long droughts between seasons are a real knife in the heart for us fans out there). According to socyberty.com, reps from Charlie Sheen have confirmed that the actor will cameo as a zombie next season. So the show may not have a writing staff, but at least we now know to expect the troubled Sheen to pop up at some point looking like a hideously half-eaten zombie.
Yes, this is TV news (and we're a movies site!), but 'The Walking Dead' is one of the most cinematic television shows currently on the air. Its people-trying-to-survive-a-zombie-apocalypse storyline is one we've seen countless times before, but we've never quite seen it in this type of form; one that allows it to breathe, expand and really focus on characters instead of cool kills. Never have we cared so much about characters in a zombie story, and so for that alone the show is an absolute triumph.
Sheen's cameo, which reminds us of the Bill Murray cameo that popped up in 'Zombieland', may open the door for more celebrity zombie cameos in the episodes to come. If that's the case, who would you like to see transformed into a zombie for season two and beyond? Or is this a show that should steer clear of the whole celeb cameo thing?
