In 2006, we were treated to the first batch of Pixar's 'Cars' -- the story of Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) setting off on a cross-country trek to the Piston Cup Championship in California. Like any cinematic road trip, McQueen learns life lessons along the way when he gets caught up in a small town and makes some friends like Mater the Tow Truck (Larry the Cable Guy) and Doc Hudson (the late Paul Newman). In other words, it's Michael J. Fox's 'Doc Hollywood' re-enacted with cars.

Now Pixar is priming 'Cars 2' with a new engine roaring trailer, and it's time to apply the fish-out-of-water scenario to a James Bond world of flashiness and spy intrigue.

Below is the official trailer for 'Cars 2,' where Lightning McQueen and Mater head overseas for the first-ever World Grand Prix, which will determine the world's fastest car. But these cars never have it that simple. "Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater's action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world."

Naturally, you recognize the voice of Finn McMissile, who's leading the spy hunt -- it's Michael Caine. (Continuing the tradition of award-winning heavyweights in supporting roles, like Paul Newman.) It's not Sean Connery -- who's too busy being Sir Billi -- but he'll do.

Directed by John Lasseter and Brad Lewis, the film is slated to hit theaters on June 24, 2011.
