Rebecca HallIs it the bald bullet head? The steady stream of wisecracks? Or his friendly relations with his ex-wife's current husband? Whatever the reason, Bruce Willis has been all over our radar this week, linked to multiple projects. Just the other day we heard that Willis may be teaming up with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson in a heist movie and now we're hearing that the popular actor could be starring with Rebecca Hall in the big screen adaptation of 'Lay the Favorite,' a gambling memoir, to be directed by Stephen Frears ('Tamara Drewe,' 'The Queen'). Please hold all jokes about who's laying whom.

"Neither Willis nor Hall are sure bets" (ha ha), reports Deadline, since Willis is also considering the next Wes Anderson movie and Hall could be the next Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's 'The Great Gatsby.' Still, it's fun to consider that Hall, a tall, elegant drink of water, may be mixing it up with Willis, the rough-housing former bartender. Similar to Willis, Hall is adroit at both comedy and drama and is good-looking without making that her main asset. She absolutely sparkled in Woody Allen's 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' and displayed her dramatic heft in Ben Affleck's 'The Town.' If she ends up in 'Lay the Favorite,' it sounds like a potentially great role.

The source material is based on real life. In 'Lay the Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling,' Beth Raymer tells her own story, as she moves to Las Vegas and lands a job working for Dink Heimowitz, a professional sports gambler from Queens, New York. She started as his "right hand man" and eventually became his most trusted associate, opening an off-shore betting office in the Caribbean.

From that description, it seems that Willis would be a mentor figure rather than a potential romantic partner and makes it clear that whoever will be playing Beth Raymer will have the lead role. What are the odds that Willis and Hall will team up in 'Lay the Favorite'? We give it 6-1.
