- There will be a boatload of news regarding distribution acquisitions once the American Film Market kicks off next week, but ahead of the event Lionsgate has announced US pick-ups for the new Judge Dredd movie, simply titled 'Dredd,' as well as 'Protection' (from Simon West) and 'Safe' (from Boaz Yankin).

- Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Laurie are leading the cast of voice actors for Aardman Animations 'Arthur Christmas.' Unfortunately, unlike their beloved 'Wallace and Grommit' series, 'Arthur Christmas' will be following in the CG footsteps of 'Flushed Away.'

- Guillermo del Toro has gone on the record to say that, while he thinks 3-D works for certain films, he will fight for his upcoming 'Frankenstein' movie to not be in 3-D. [via The Playlist]

- Good news, everybody! Paramount has moved up the release of the Coen Brothers' 'True Grit' by three days: now it will be going wide in the US on Dec 22.

- Al Pacino will next star opposite Eva Green and Susan Sarandon in 'Arbitrage.' Nicholas Jarecki's film will find Pacino as a hedge fund giant whose desperation to unload his ailing business results in an "unexpected, bloody error."

-Sadly, comedy screenwriter Monica Johnson, who worked on 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show,' 'Real Life,' 'Modern Romance' and 'Lost in America' passed away on Monday.
