Ever feel like there's a pattern to the female characters we see on TV and in movies?

The aptly named Overthinkingit.com has broken down female characters in an easy-to-digest, but also horribly depressing, flow chart.

From the classic manic pixie dream girl (Natalie Portman's character in 'Garden State') to the "trophy" (Megan Fox in 'Transformers'), it seems like every female character arch is played out -- and well, just lame. Sigh.

The usual excuse is that writing good female character is difficult, but we never realized just how few there really are in movies and television.
