The Costume(s): The League of Evil Exes from 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World' -- namely, 1) Matthew Patel (Satya Bhabha); 2) Lucas Lee (Chris Evans); 3) Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh); 4) Roxy Richter (Mae Whitman); 5 & 6) Kyle and Ken Katayanagi (Shota and Keita Saito); 7) Gideon Graves (Jason Swartzman).
What You'll Need: (For Matthew Patel) Matthew wears shiny black Doc Martens-style boots, light-gray cargo pants (rolled up above boot-line), a black-and-red rugby shirt, a khaki pea coat and heavy black eyeliner. Most of the clothing items can be found at any Gap or Old Navy-esque store. For the khaki pea coat, try a military surplus store or similar online store. Or just ask your favorite Goth pal if you can borrow his wardrobe for the night!
(For Lucas Lee) You'll need a black leather jacket, a black T-shirt, jeans, a chain wallet and black shoes. All of those can be found in most guys' closets, with the exception of the chain wallet and the biker jacket. The wallet you can find at a skateboard shop or you can fashion one out of a dog chain. The jacket is expensive, so ask your motorcycle-riding buddy if you can borrow his. Or, if you dare, go to the Forever 21 men's section and fake it with pleather.
(For Roxy Richter) This one's for the ladies -- or the guy in your posse who likes to dress up in drag (there's one in every group). Head to a store like Hot Topic to get an industrial black short dress, a black dog collar with studs, and a belt that looks like it's made of disco balls (easier to find than you might think!). Rip up black flower-print nylons, get a blond wig and wear heavy black eye makeup. Or again, just phone up your favorite Goth pal and ask if you can steal her look.
(For the Katayanagi twins) The first thing you'll need here is a willing partner -- especially one who looks a lot like you. Ken wears a blond wig, white pants, a white button-down shirt, and white belt -- easy enough to find at any department store. Kyle wears jeans and a rising sun print tank top, easily found on eBay.com.
(For Gideon Graves) If you look a little bit like Jason Schwartzman, that's half the battle here. Now throw on some Clark Kent-style spectacles and pair with a white blazer, a red dress shirt, a black skinny tie, dark jeans and white dress shoes. Depending on your budget, you can find all of this stuff at department stores or thrift stores.
Accessories: If you're Lucas, a skateboard would be a perfect addition. Try to get a bass guitar for Todd or at least a carton of soy milk to stoke his vegan powers. Since the Katayanagi twins are deejays, you can make turntables using cardboard, makers and yarn; wear it like old-fashioned cigarette girls wore their trays.
