Both TMZ and YouTube have videos of Bumblebee getting into a scuffle not with a Deceptacon, but with a cop car. The videos provide different angles of Megatron in car form and the rest of the gang flying down a street. Just as the group crosses an intersection, that aforementioned cop car comes from the other direction and Bumblebee plows right into it while traveling perpendicular. It looks like a fairly high-speed crash, but the damage seems minimal compared to that wild highway scene gone wrong from last month.
If only that cop car were part of the production, perhaps it could have transformed and eluded the collision. Apparently there was a bomb scare in the area and the Explosive Ordinances Division was handling the case. There must have been a rift in communication, because the EOD car came careening right through the active set. The cop driving that vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital.
While our hopes are with that officer for a speedy recovery, the bigger issue here for Paramount is that lawsuit. The shoot compelled tons of Washington D.C. residents to come out and see the action. What if the two cars collided in a way that sent debris flying into the crowds? Perhaps it was a long shot, but these are issues Paramount really needs to consider not only for the safety of its crew, star and fans, but particularly because of the charges held against the studio by the injured extra, Gabriela Cedillo. Whether or not the studio is liable for her injuries, this incident is only going to help her case. Plus, does Paramount really need another 'Transformers 3' catastrophe? We've already got the trouble with the National Parks Service, the loss of Megan Fox, the crash with Cedillo, the resulting lawsuit and now this? Tack on the bad taste 'Revenge of the Fallen' left in moviegoers' mouths and Bay and the franchise have some serious faith to win back.
