Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp in the same film? Be still my heart.
It was only yesterday that a story was going around that Tom Hanks was interested in taking a role in director Kathryn Bigelow's 'Triple Frontier' (alternately called 'Sleeping Dogs'), her first outing since last year's Oscar-winning 'The Hurt Locker.' And now Deadline has reported that Johnny Depp is in talks with Bigelow to also star in the film alongside Hanks.
The film, which Bigelow will begin directing in February for Paramount Pictures, is set in the organized crime haven that exists in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil.
According to Deadline, Depp likes the role and the idea of teaming with Hanks, but there are scheduling issues: He's getting ready to begin work in February as Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows.'
But the prospect of the pair filling the big screen at the same time -- and working with Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal, who is working on Triple Frontier' and also wrote 'Hurt Locker' -- is such an exciting prospect that, according to Deadline, everyone will try over the near few weeks to make it possible for Depp to join the action.
We can't wait.
