In honor of our 20th birthday, we'll be celebrating movies and their impact on individual people. If there is a movie that has changed or inspired you, let us know by emailing moviefone-editorial@teamaol.com.

In early 1997, a coworker suggested that I watch the movie 'Sleepless In Seattle' as a remedy to my frumpiness over Denver's lack of rainy days. I had never been to Seattle, but was told its rainy weather would be perfect for me, considering my love for rain. So, thinking it could be a "quick fix" of sorts -- a temporary elixir for my frumpy "I've got to have some rain" ailment --I decided to rent the movie.

After renting 'Sleepless In Seattle' and watching it about 12 times, I put Seattle at the top of my "must visit" list. I just had to witness this beautiful, rainy city first-hand. I loved everything about the movie -- the scenery, the marketplaces, the characters and, yes, even the rain-soaked streets.

So I was elated when, in May 1997, a major airline informed me on the day of travel that Seattle was the destination of a "mystery trip" my daughter and I were about to embark on. A "Mystery trip" was a popular promotion supported by a few major airlines at the time. Essentially, people could purchase trips to undisclosed locations for ridiculously low prices.

Since we had no way of pre-planning activities, we decided to visit the places that appeared in the movie, along with a little island-jumping, which involved hopping ferries from the Seattle Pier to various islands and peninsulas. We trampled boardwalks, scoured shops, enjoyed salt-water seafood and visited the famous Pike Place Market.

Okay, so maybe I was on the verge of Seattle overdose, ready to Kiss a great job goodbye and "leave my ol' jalopy by the railroad tracks for a hip double-dip, tip-toppy, two-seat Pontiac" to make "only green lights and all rights" in a rainy town, but I knew Seattle and I would "go together like a wink and a smile," just like the song from the movie.

In July of 1997, I moved to Seattle.
