We've seen the paparazzi snaps from the set of 'The Tourist,' but now the first trailer for Angeline Jolie/Johnny Depp thriller is online. The trailer, which you can find after the jump, gives us just a taste of this sexy, decadent film set in Venice and Paris. As Frank, the titular tourist, he finds that a burgeoning romance with the gorgeous, mysterious Elise (Jolie) is infinitely more complicated than it initially seemed.
Frank's not just in danger of having his heart danced on once again, but suddenly people are trying to kill him, and no one is willing to help. In fact, people seem willfully dense about helping him. How is Elise involved? Who are these people? Why do they think he's actually a a thief who stole from a powerful gangster?
Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think. Some of the lines are witty -- a slip of the tongue means Frank accidentally calls Elise "ravenous" when he means "ravishing" -- and Jolie is fully flexing her lioness-like combo of mesmerizing sexiness and danger. It's a relief to see Johnny Depp finally shed his Jack Sparrow alter ego -- admittedly an entertaining one -- for a more dramatic role. The gorgeous scenery and haute couture don't hurt, either. Will Depp be as convincing in an action film? Do you buy Jolie's British accent?
More importantly, how will director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's first English language film (and only his second feature length film) stack up against this award-winning German film 'The Lives of Others'?
