If you're at all like me, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' is one of those movies that sits on your list of all-time favorites, but that automatic appreciation also makes it seem like one you may only seldom feel the need to either watch or own. Warner Home Video, however, is making the film one of this month's must-have releases with their new Ultimate Collector's Edition, which not only includes high-definition presentation of the film, a commentary track by the filmmakers, and a generous collection of bonus materials, but a 52-page commemorative hardcover book, a deck of cast-inspired playing cards, and reproductions of the film's marketing materials.
To celebrate the release of the new Blu-ray set, WHV offered Cinematical an exclusive clip from "Completely Cuckoo," a "comprehensive 87-minute retrospective" about the making and the legacy of 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.' In the video below, producer Michael Douglas talks about how a simultaneous staging of 'Cuckoo' as a play led to Douglas longtime friend, Danny DeVito, being cast in the film adaptation.
Look for more about 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' on Cinematical in the next week or so, where it will most likely be covered as part of our 'Shelf Life' series. Otherwise, hunt down your own copy of 'Cuckoo' and dive into its expansive collection of content, of course including a terrific high-definition transfer of the film itself.
