Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman will make his directorial debut with the release of 'Jack Goes Boating,' in select theaters Sept. 17.

In the film, Hoffman plays the titular character, a limo driver who is set up with his friend's co-worker, Connie, played 'Gone Baby Gone's' Amy Ryan. The relationship inspires Jack to change his life for the better, which includes taking swimming lessons so he can take Connie on a romantic boat ride. Meanwhile, Jack's best friends, Clyde (John Ortiz) and Lucy (Daphne Rubin-Vega), are in a rut, and must come to terms with the fact that their relationship is falling apart.
