As we inch our way into September and summer finally starts to give way to fall, it's only natural that horror fans start to think about October -- the one month of the year where our passion for all things dark and macabre is celebrated rather than shunned.
It wouldn't be Halloween without thinking about John Carpenter's classic slasher film. And while I'm sure many of us will sit down and view it at least one time during the month, there's something more exciting in store for those of us who've seen the film so often that we can recite the dialogue by heart.
Phil Nobile has been working on a feature length documentary about Carpenter's film -- Halloween: The Inside Story. The project is completed, and will be making its debut just in time for the big holiday thanks to A&E's Biography channel. If you tune in on October 28th at 9PM, you'll be able to see the film in its entirety.
While we've seen a lot of documentaries about Halloween over the years (as supplements on the various DVD and laserdisc releases), The Inside Story should be one of the most comprehensive ones to date. Nobile has rounded up everyone for his feature -- including Carpenter, Curtis, Irwin Yablans, Dean Cundey, Tony Moran (your unmasked Michael), Danielle Harris, and even Rob Zombie. Needless to say, if you're the kind of person who always wanted to spend an October in Haddonfield, you're going to want to catch this one. Mark your calendars and set your video recorders -- if you miss out on this, you'll wind up regretting it.
