I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of Robin Hardy's The Wicker Man. I know that in some horror circles, that's akin to blasphemy -- but the movie's just never clicked for me. Too many hippy songs for my taste, not enough violence. I do enjoy Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee's performance, and the final sequence is almost worth sitting through the rest of the film to see, but as a whole the film just doesn't work for me.

Of course, I'd rather be forced to watch it for eternity than sit through a second viewing of the Nic Cage remake. Well, except for watching him don a bear suit and punch that girl in the face. That cracks me up with its absurdity.

Hardy's making a pseudo-sequel to the film entitled The Wicker Tree and the first teaser trailer turned up a few days ago. Hard to get too much of a feel for this one from the short clip, but I didn't spot any singing -- which is a good sign.

Christopher Lee and Joan Collins (!) star in the film alongside Graham McTavish, Paul Wesley, Susie Amy, Morgan James, and Natalie Parnes. The story involves two young Christians -- a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend -- who head to Scotland on a mission to spread the gospel.

Naturally, they run into Sir Lachlan Morrison and his people -- who aren't really interested in the teachings of Jesus. I'm guessing bad things happen soon after.

Check out the teaser clip after the jump.
