The more I see of John Erick and Drew Dowdle's film Devil, the more interested in it I become.
The first film in M. Night Shyamalan's Night Chronicles series, which will see the director produce one horror film per year for the next three years minimum, Devil looks like a creepy good time. And while the Dowdle brothers Quarantine didn't work nearly as well as Rec -- the film that inspired it -- I'm interested in seeing more work from the guys who made The Poughkeepsie Tapes.
Chris Messina, Logan Marshall-Green, Jenny O'Hara, Jacob Vargas, Matt Craven, Bojana Novakovic, Bokeem Woodbine, Geoffrey Arend, and Caroline Dhavernas star in the feature -- which finds a group of people trapped in an elevator. That's not particularly terrifying, but the fact that one of them may be Satan himself certainly ups the chill factor almost exponentially.
The new clip features one of the young women being "bit" by something when the lights go out. As tensions inside the elevator escalate, Bokeem Woodbine and the others become convinced that Geoffrey Arend's character is responsible -- and his reaction to their questioning certainly doesn't make him look innocent.
Devil is due out in theaters on September 17th. Hopefully people don't assume that this is a film directed by Shyamalan (whose name has been removed from some of the pre-release materials to avoid this very thing) and skip the film based on that alone.
Hit the jump for a peek at the new clip and expect a full review of Devil later this month.
